At IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator), we work every day to ensure the reliable, efficient, and sustainable transmission of electricity across Greece. Through innovation, operational excellence, and continuous investment in critical energy infrastructure, we are supporting the country's energy transition and building a greener future.

As part of our continuous growth, we are looking for a Health & Safety Engineer to join our Maintenance Department in Attica.

Your Role

As a member of the Power Transmission Maintenance Department, you will provide Health & Safety engineering support to Maintenance teams and contribute to the safe execution of planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities, as well as renovation projects across high-voltage substations, overhead transmission lines, and protection and secondary systems.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Reviewing contractor H&S Plans, risk assessments, RAMS, method statements, lifting and rescue plans, emergency arrangements, competency records, and equipment certificates.
  • Ensuring that contractors and subcontractors comply with applicable legislation, contractual Health & Safety requirements, IPTO procedures, approved work documentation, and site rules.
  • Coordinating H&S comments and requirements with Maintenance engineers, Operations teams, contract owners, and other relevant functions, while monitoring corrective actions through to completion.
  • Acting as a focal point for Health and Safety matters between the Maintenance Department and other organizational units, particularly the H&S Department.
  • Preparing and updating H&S technical instructions, task risk assessments, safe-work procedures, and work method statements for recurring maintenance activities.
  • Supporting technical teams during job planning, site walkdowns, pre-job briefings, toolbox talks, outages, emergency interventions, and dynamic risk assessments.
  • Conducting field inspections and H&S audits at substations, overhead-line sites, and protection or secondary-system work locations, documenting findings and follow-up actions.
  • Verifying that field activities are performed in accordance with approved risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work requirements, and actual site conditions.
  • Supporting incident and near-miss reporting, investigations, lessons learned, and corrective action tracking in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Contributing H&S requirements to technical specifications and contracts, maintaining H&S records and performance indicators, and promoting a strong safety culture.

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree from a Polytechnic School or University, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience in Health & Safety, engineering, construction, operations, or maintenance.
  • Experience in electrical utilities, transmission systems, HV substations, overhead lines, or protection systems will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Very good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Practical experience in reviewing risk assessments, RAMS, method statements, permits to work, lifting plans, work-at-height arrangements, and contractor H&S documentation.
  • Understanding of electrical safety principles, isolation and earthing procedures, work near energized equipment, induced voltage, arc-flash risks, and operational interfaces.
  • Knowledge of contractor H&S management, field inspections, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems will be considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills in both Greek and English.
  • Valid driving license and availability for frequent field travel.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Group Hospital & Medical Insurance Plan.
  • A technically challenging role with direct involvement in the safe maintenance of Greece's high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, specialist training, and career development within a dynamically expanding Greek company.
  • Collaboration with experienced Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and HSE professionals.
