The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) is committed to supporting innovation and research that contributes to the evolution of the energy sector and the successful implementation of Greece's energy transition. As part of its ongoing development, IPTO is seeking to recruit a Research Engineer to join its team in Athens and contribute to the implementation of national and European research and innovation projects.

Your role in the team

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the implementation and scientific support of research and development projects, with a particular focus on projects funded under the Horizon Europe Programme. You will contribute to research activities, technical documentation, methodology development and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deliver high-quality outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the implementation and scientific coordination of research projects funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, including the execution of research activities, technical documentation and preparation of project deliverables.

• Participating in the implementation of national and international research and innovation programmes.

• Contributing to the execution of internal R&D projects within IPTO, providing scientific and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

• Developing methodologies, tools and approaches to support research objectives and project outcomes.

• Collaborating with internal departments, academic institutions, research organizations and project partners to ensure effective project implementation.

• Monitoring project progress and supporting the achievement of technical and scientific targets in accordance with project requirements.

 

 

What we are looking for

 

Required Qualifications

• University degree from a School of Engineering or in Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

• M.Sc. degree in Applied Mechanics or a related field.

• Ph.D. degree in a discipline related to the thermomechanical properties and/or thermomechanical behavior of materials.

• Excellent command of the English language.

• Fulfilled military obligations (for male candidates).

 

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of a second foreign language.

• Previous participation in European or internationally funded research projects.

• Experience in scientific research, technical reporting and preparation of project deliverables.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and scientific writing skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
